ILM AL-HÂL

106 SATR AL-AWRAH (COVERING OF THE PRIVATE AREA) The third condition of Salâh is Satr Al-Awrah (covering of the private area). It includes those parts of the body, which are prohibited to expose and be seen by others. The private area of a male is the body parts between the navel and the knees, while that of a female is the entire body except for the hands up to the wrists, the feet up to the ankles and the face. ISTIQBÂL AL-QIBLAH (FACING THE HOLY KA’BAH) The fourth condition of Salâh is Istiqbâl Al-Qiblah (Facing the Holy Ka’bah). Those who are in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and can see the Ka’bah should face the Ka’bah directly. Those who are unable to see the Ka’bah because of the far distance should turn in the direction where Ka’bah is situated. AL-WAQT (TIME) The fifth condition of Salâh is Al-Waqt (time) which means to perform each Salâh upon the arrival of its due time. Any Salâh offered before its due time is infact, it has not been performed at all. Salâh times are calculated by timetables prepared for each city.
