55 3. Al-ljmâ’ Al-Ummah: The consensus of the Mujtahid of this ummah, in a century, on a particular religious matter. 4. Al-Qiyâs Al-Fuqahâ: Arriving at an established decision based on certain evidence by comparing it with other evidence similar to it with the same cause, reason and wisdom, and based on the Kitâb, Sunnah and ljmâ’ Al-Ummah. Al-ljtihâd: To exert the utmost effort in deriving a particular law of Sharî’ah from the general evidences of Qur’ân and Hadith. Al-Mujtahid: A highly accomplished scholar of Islâm, able to issue a legal decision of Sharî’ah from the Âyât (verses) of the Noble Qur’ân and the Ahâdîth and capable of Qiyâs. In order to qualify as a Mujtahid, one need to have all Islâmic sciences mastered and also possess a type of knowledge gifted by Allâh تعالى , known as “Al-llm Al-Ladun”. METHODS OF SCIENCE AND CHANNELS OF INFORMATION They are three: 1. Al-Hawâss Al-Salîmah: The five senses of seeing, hearing, tasting, touching and smelling. 2. Al-Khabar Al-Sâdiq: It is the trustworthy news and is of two kinds: a) reports communicated by the Prophets عليهم السلم , b) news communicated by a group of people unlikely to tell lies, 3. Al-Aql: Intelligence.
