ILM AL-HÂL

90 to have excess to the water for fear of enemies, wild animals etc. In doing Tayammum, first utter the Isti’âdhah (Aûdhu…) and Basmalah, then strike your palms once on the soil, sand or a similar substance moving your palms back and forth. (ILLUSTRATION: 1). Then hit your hands together to ensure there is no dust on the palms. (ILLUSTRATION: 2). Wipe your face with the palms (ILLUSTRATION: 3). The second time, strike your palms on the soil, again moving them back and forth and shaking the dust. Then first, wipe the right arm up to the elbow (ILLUSTRATION: 4-5) and then the left arm in the same way (ILLUSTRATION: 6-7). Make sure that the whole arms up to and including elbows are wiped properly. In order to maintain the tartîb (order), first wipe the face, then the arms without leaving any interruption between the periods of masah (wiping). In making Tayammum, you should also move around or remove a ring, a watch or a bracelet thus wiping the places beneath them.
