Qa’dah Al-Âkhirah (Final sitting), PURIFICATION FROM HADATH (THE STATE OF IMPURITY) Purification from Hadath (the state of impurity) is the first condition of Salâh. Hadath is of two kinds: a) Hadath Al-Asghar: Not being in a state of Wudhû. b) Hadath Al-Akbar: Being in a state of janâbah (the state of impurity), as a result of a wet dream or intimacy, in the case of males. Being in a state of Haydh (menstruation) or Nifâs (postnatal bleeding), in the case of females. Any man or woman who intend to perform Salâh must perform Wudhû while in a state of “Hadath Al-Asghar” or Ghusl (washing the entire body) while in a state of “Hadath Al-Akbar”.
