64 3. Sunnah: The words and deeds of Nabî Muhammad ﷺ , as well as those deeds of others that he ﷺ had approved of. Sunnah is of two groups: a) Sunnah Al-Muakkadah: Those Sunnah acts that Nabî ﷺ would always perform and hardly ever miss. For instance, the Sunnah rak’ahs (units) of Salâh Al-Fajr and Salâh Al-Zuhr. b) Sunnah Ghayr Al-Muakkadah: Those Sunnah acts that Nabî ﷺ occasionally performed, such as the first Sunnah rak’ahs (units) of Salâh Al-Asr and Salâh Al-lshâ. 4. Mustahab: Those deeds that Nabî ﷺ sometimes did, such as giving Sadaqah and Nâfilah (supereragatory) fasting. 5. Mubâh: Those deeds, which cause no rewards when performed and no sins when not performed. For example, sitting, standing, eating and drinking. 6. Makrûh: Those detested acts, which lessen the thawâb (reward) of good deeds, such as looking around while in Salâh. 7. Mufsid: Those acts that break any ibâdah (worship) that one has already begun such as the flow of blood or pus out of one’s body while having Wudhû, laughing while in Salâh, eating or drinking something while fasting. 8. Harâm: Those acts that are prohibited by definite proofs, such as having intoxicating drinks, rebelling against one’s parents.
