51 REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF ÎMÂN (FAITH) Every Muslim should be heedful about the following points in order to preserve their Îmân: 1. To believe in Ghayb (the unperceived). Ghayb is the collection of the things that cannot be perceived through the five senses, like Allâh تعالــى , angels, paradise, hell, jinn, etc. 2. To believe that which is Halâl (lawful) are indeed Halâl (lawful). In other words, not to forbid that which is indeed Halâl (lawful). 3. To believe that which is Harâm (unlawful) are indeed Harâm (unlawful). In other words, one must not declare unlawful things as lawful. For example, a Muslim is not to say that alcoholic drinks including beer, interest or other unlawful things are lawful. 4. To fear Allâh تعالى all the time. 5. To be respectful towards the sacred values of Islâm, abstaining from treating them lightly. 6. Not to lose hope of the Mercy of Allâh تعالى . 7. To recognize the disbelievers as disbelievers and the Muslims as Muslims. For instance, if anyone calls a person “Muslim” who actually harbours enmity against Islâm either by tongue or in writing or by action, such a person goes out of the fold of Islâm. In addition, if anyone calls a Muslim “disbeliever” who is actually serving Islâm and striving to spread the Dîn, this person too, goes out of the fold of Islâm.
