On the other hand, when a Musâfir (traveller) misses some four rakah Fardh Salâh (prayers) while they are Muqîm (resident), they perform them in full when travelling (in a state of Safar). “Watan” (Homeland) is divided into three categories 1. The “Watan Al-Aslî” (original home), 2. The “Watan Al-Iqâmah” (home of residence), 3. The “Watan Al-Suknâ” (home of stopping-off). Watan Al-Aslî (Original Home) This is the place where a person is born or gets married. In addition, the place where one has intended to reside permanently is also regarded as the original home even though they may have not been born or married there. Watan Al-Aslî (Original Home) can only change by another Watan Al-Aslî (Original Home). For instance, when a man gets married to a woman from a town where he is not born, and intends to settle in his spouse’s town permanently, his birthplace in this case, no more becomes his Watan Al-Aslî (original home). Thus, if such a person intends to stay in his former original home for less than fifteen days, he performs the four- rakah Fardh parts of Salâh (prayers) in two rakahs.
