ILM AL-HÂL
171 Sunnah part of the Zuhr Salâh. Then they perform the first two rakahs in the same manner as in the Sunnah of the Fajr Salâh. At the end of the two rakahs, they sit for the first Tashahhud and read the dua of Tashahhud “Attahiyyâtu...” Then the musallî stands up for the third rakah without giving Salâm. They first read Sûrah Al-Fâtihah and thereafter perform the third and fourth rakahs exactly like the first and second rakahs, at the end of which they sit for the second Tashahhud (Qa’dah Al-Âkhirah). Then they read the dua of Tashahhud “Attahiyyâtu”, Salawât “Allâhumma Salli...”, “Allâhumma Bârik...” and “Rabbanâ Âtinâ...” in order. Then they end the Salâh by giving Salâm (salutation). The musallî performs the Fardh (obligatory) part of the Zuhr Salâh like its Sunnah part. Male musallîs however, call the Iqâmah before they start the Fardh rakahs of Zuhr Salâh. One makes the Niyyah (intention) by heart saying: “I have intended to perform the Fardh part of today’s Zuhr Salâh.” The difference between the performance of the first two rakahs and the last two is that in the last two rakahs, one recites only Sûrah Al-Fâtihah. In other words, the musallî does not read any additional Sûrah (chapter) or Âyât (verses) after Sûrah Al-Fâtihah. Likewise, one does not recite any additional Sûrah or Âyât after Sûrah Al- Fâtihah in the third and fourth rakahs of the Fardh parts of the other daily Salâh. The final two rakah Sunnah of the Zuhr Salâh is performed exactly in the samemanner as the two rakah Sunnah of the Fajr
