137 THE SUNNAH ACTS of SALÂH 1. Calling the Adhân, 2. When beginning Salâh, raising the hands up to the level of the ears for males and upto the shoulders for females with the utterance of the first Takbîr (Allâhu Akbar), 3. Clasping the hands immediately after the utterance of the Takbîr (Females place their hands on their chests, right hands on top of the left. Males clasp their left wrists using their thumbs and little fingers of the right hands, below the navel), 4. Reading the dua of "Subhanaka” (Thanâ), 5. Reading Isti’âdha and Basmalah (Aûdhu Billâhi…), 6. Reading Basmalah before Sûrah Al-Fâtihah, 7. Saying "Âmîn” at the end of Sûrah Al-Fâtihah, 8. Reading Sûrah Al-Fâtihah in the third or fourth rakahs of Fardh Salâh (prayers) consisiting of three or four rakahs, 9. Reading Takbîr when bowing down, prostrating, rising to the sitting position, returning to prostration, and when rising from prostration, 10. Reading the Tasbîh of “Subhâna Rabbiy-al Athîm” three times in the position of Rukû’, 11. In the position of Rukû’, a male should hold the knees with the hands, with the fingers apart, the head and back being at the same level. A female, however does not keep the head and back at the same level and places the fingers over the knees without spreading fingers, 12. Imâm saying "Sami’allâhu limân hamidah” while rising from the position of Rukû’ (bowing),
