However, a female, sits on her hipbones while placing both of the feet out on the right side. This kind of sitting for women is called Tawarruk. In this position, the hands are placed on the thighs pointing in the direction of Qiblah. The eyes are directed to the laps. THE WÂJIB (NECESSARY) ACTS OF THE SALÂH 1. Beginning Salâh (prayer) with the words of Takbîr, that is “Allâhu Akbar”, 2. Reading Sûrah Al-Fâtihah in the first two rakahs of Fardh Salâh (prayers) and each rakah of Nâfilah Salâh (prayers), 3. Reading, after Sûrah Al-Fâtihah, any other Sûrah of the Qur’ân or few Âyât (verses) equal to the length of a Sûrah, 4. Doing the Qirâ’ah (Reciting Sûrah Al-Fâtihah and the Sûrah) in the first two rakahs. 5. Performing the two Sajdahs (prostrations) succesively, 6. Observing Ta’dîl Al-Arkân, that is performance of all the pillars of the Salâh carefully and at ease where Rukû’ (bowing) and Sajdah (prostration) are to be fulfilled so carefully that all the limbs should come to rest and the joints are at ease; standing after Rukû’, sitting between the
