ILM AL-HÂL

101 after 10 days cycles. The one that is seen after 40 days, in the case of postnatal bleeding is also Istihâdhah. This type of discharge does not prevent an adult female from fasting, performing Salâh etc. It does not prevent her from sexual intercourse, either. An adult female in the state of Istihâdhah makes Wudhû at the beginning time of each Salâh and performs the Salâh of that time. This sort of discharge has a similarity to irregular nose bleeding. - The shortest period of Haydh (Menstruation) is three days and three nights while the longest is ten days and ten nights. - The state of legal purity between two cycles of menstruation is called Al-Tuhur. The shortest duration of Al-Tuhur is fifteen days while there is no certain limit for the longest. - There isn’t any certain limit for the shortest period of postnatal bleeding (Nifâs). The longest of its duration is 40 days from the birth of the child. The duration of postnatal bleeding (Nifâs) for a woman who has given birth to twins is calculated from the time of delivery of the first baby. - The days in which a woman does not experience any discharge during her cycle of menstruation, are regarded to be the days of Haydh (menstruation). For instance, if during the shortest cycle of menstruation, which is three days, blood is discharged on the first and third days while it ceases on the second, this second day is considered to be a day of menstruation.
